UK Court Dismissed Same Allegations Levelled In NAB Court, Over No Proof – Shehbaz

LAHORE: PMLN President and National Assembly Opposition Leader Shehbaz says the accusations levelled in Daily Mail article dismissed by UK Court over no proof were the same allegations levelled against him in the 58 volumes and in the NAB Court.

Speaking at the rostrum in the Accountability Court Lahore, Shehbaz said the accusations levelled against him in London High Court were ruled to be based on nothing but assumptions. He said these accusations were not just a smear campaign against him but a sinister conspiracy to define Pakistan. But he said this conspiracy was defeated in the London High Court by the grace of God Almighty.

He said the court rejected the allegations of embezzlement in the funds by DFID for earthquake victims as presumptuous. He told that the lawyers of The Dailly Mail admitted that they had no plausible proof of these allegations. He said as soon as the London High Court gives its detailed decision, it will be presented in the Accountability Court, because the allegations subjudice in the NAB court were the same as published in the Daily Mail and dismissed by the British Court.

Shehbaz pointed out that the lawyers of Daily Mail repeatedly quoted NAB officials in their case. He said the first hearing of the defamation case filed by him against the Daily Mail was held on February 5th. The Daily Mail lawyers confessed in front of the judge and the whole world there was no evidence or proof of any of the allegations that Shehbaz benefited from the DFID money.

Shehbaz said that the 58 volumes compiled against him had the same accusations as the Daily Mail article which had been dismissed by the court for no evidence. The article itself mentions that access was given to every documents and personnel to the point of imprisoned people. What would be written on the 700 pages of the volumes? Even after reading all that and talking to everyone, it was admitted that there is no proof.

The PMLN President said it is not possible to influence, pressure or buy London Courts and that he expects nothing more than justice from the Accountability Court. He said the decision of the British Court has built a positive Image of Pakistan. Earlier, the British government had worked especially on a Sunday to refute the Daily Mail news as lies and baseless.

He reminded that the PMLN government brought in foreign investment from UK, US, China, Germany and Turkey. If corruption or kickbacks of even a penny were to be proven against him in any of these, he would quit politics, he pledged. He said he spent every penny of the trillions of foreign investment done in Punjab over the 10 years of his government, most honestly and transparently on the people of the province.
