Culprits Of Motorway Incident Be Given Exemplary Punishment – Shehbaz
PMLN President and National Assembly Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif says the entire country is demanding that the daughter of the nation raped on the motorway should get justice and the culprits should be given the most strict punishment possible.
Addressing a lawyers convention under PMLN layers wing Shehbaz said it is the hight of callousness that those entrusted with protecting the people, empathising and standing with the victim, are blaming the victim and raising questions over hey conduct. He said if justice is not done it will lead to total chaos and anarchy because a society of non-believers may survive but a society with injustice cannot.
Shehbaz said this incident had raised serious questions over our austen and we as a nation will need to rethink a lot of things.
He said by the grace of God Almighty, under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, special forensic labs were built by the PMLN government that are assisting the investigation. He said such steps are needed to curb crime and criminals and the lawyers and judiciary will need to pay a key role for this. He said everyone will need to work together so that we can build the country Quaid e Azam and Alama Iqbal envisioned.
The re-organisation lawyers wing of the PMLN was also done and appointment letters to ideologically aligned, accomplished and loyal lawyers from 36 districts of Punjab. Addressing the lawyers he said the motorway incident has left entire nation heart wrenched.
He said this incident is beyond partisan political lines it is a national issue over which the entire nation is outraged. This, he said, is a matter of Pakistani society’s dignity and survival which is why the entire country wants the culprits to punished in an exemplary manner.
He said although PMLN or any other opposition party didn’t politicise this incident, but he said the entire nation remembers how PTI politicised the Kasur Zainab case. He reminded how he went at 3 am to meet Zainab’s father and did not rest till the moment the culprit was caught. He said everyone remained committed under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership and God Almighty blessed these efforts with results.
The PMLN President said time has shown that empty vessels make more noise. Today he said the victim is being blamed by officials and the cabinet is defending those guilty of rape victim shaming. He said how are these people being appointed to such high offices is no secret. He said Quaid’s Pakistan after 73 years is standing at a very crucial juncture.
Shehbaz said hollow sloganeering won’t save Pakistan’s crashing economy. He lauded the role of lawyers in Pakistan and their struggle for restoration of judiciary. He urged them to summon the same spirit and strive for a better Pakistan. He pledged that under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership the party has always stood up for supremacy of justice and will continue to do so.
Speaking at the convention Presidents and office bearers of Bar Associations of 36 districts praised PMLN’s struggle for the restoration of judiciary under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and said his efforts led to strengthening of constitutional and legal foundations of the country.
