End State of Denial, Delusion, Stubborness & Call CCI Meeting To Strategize Coherent, Comprehensive, Consensus To Fight Raging Covid-19 – Shehbaz Tells Govt

PMLN President and National Assembly Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif says the government should come out of its state of denial, stubborness over faulty estimates, admonishing criticism and delusions and should summon a meeting of the Council of Common Interest as soon as possible to strategize and implement fresh measures to deal with the surging pandemic in the country.

In a statement, Shehbaz said the situation is fast getting out of hand and it suggested that it is isn’t too late to revive the local government. He said this grass roots institution can be extremely useful in the fight against covid-19 and to contain its aggressive spread. He told the government to show its power and prowess in ensuring awareness and treatment of coronavirus instead of spending all its energies on statements and political agenda toeing.

Shehbaz asked if the government does not believe in a lockdown, what is its alternative policy to a lockdown? He pointed out that imposition of an unplanned, unmanaged lockdown and then a mindless lifting of lockdown has proven disastrous for Pakistanis.

The PMLN President said in the past 24 hours over a 110 deaths and thousands of new infections has disproven all government speculations and estimates. Also the ground reality is vastly different from what the government is propagating, he pointed out.

The National Assembly Opposition Leader said the patients are dying miserably in overwhelmed hospital where they can’t even find a bed. All this is going on some the fishnet government is either abusing and blaming the opposition or the 220 million of Pakistan to exonerate itself from responsibility.

“A comprehensive and collective strategy must be devised and implemented with a consensus built between the federal government and all provinces. Renowned medical experts should be made part of the NCOC and all administrative decisions should be taken under their guidance” Shehbaz said.

The government must correct its management blunders, its inability to build a consensus instead of being baffled, stubborn, scapegoating and gaslighting.

Shehbaz said it should be the top priority of the government to safeguard the lives of the people. He called for an end to unbelievably exaggerated prices of tickets for Pakistanis stuck abroad. He said the Ministry for Overseas Pakistanis is looting the overseas Pakistanis with both hands. He called for the foreign ministry and all ministries associated should work have failed to bring back Pakistanis stuck overseas and have failed to protect them from exploitation.

He demanded the formation of a Parliamentary Committee that would redress the complaints of overseas Pakistanis and would monitor their return and must act against those who charge excessive fairs and should cancel their licences.
