Shehbaz Demands At Least 10PC Increase In Govt Employees’ Salary

PMLN President and National Assembly Opposition Leader Shehbaz had demanded a minimum of 10 percent increase in the salaries of government employees.

In a statement, Shehbaz said zero increase in the salaries of government employees especially lower scale employees is absolutely unacceptable. He pointed out that inflation had crossed all limits and healthcare expenditures were through the roof. Under such circumstances it is blatant injustice not to increase the salaries of such employees.

The National Assembly Opposition Leader said this budget does not reflect at all that the country is going through an economic slowdown at all. He reminded how PMLN increased the salaries of government employees in every single one of their budgets despite the fact that inflation rate was vastly lower in the country due to PMLN’s productive policies.

Shehbaz questioned as to where were the stimulus measures that were supposed to revive the economy? Where were the development projects and where the development funds to generate employment and economic activity? There is no programme in the budget to help the farmers while the agricultural sector is experiencing a 2.9 percent decline. If the government wouldn’t give respite to the farmers at this crucial moment, when exactly does it plan to?

This government, Shehbaz said, has failed at all fronts including providing relief to the farmers and the agricultural sector.
