Over 2,400 Covid19 Patients In Islamabad, Only 12 Ventilators In The City – Marriyum
PMLN Secretary lnformation Marriyum Aurangzeb has slammed the government’s unpreparedness amid surging covid-19 in the country saying there are over 2,400 coronavirus patients in Islamabad while there are only 12 ventilators available at the hospitals.
Expressing grave concern and alarm, Marriyum said there are only 9 ventilators functional in the federal government’s biggest hospital PIMS. She said these 9 too have been shifted to the Isolation Ward from various ICUs of the hospital. These include 4 from surgical ICU, 2 from Cardiology ICU while 3 have been brought in from the Surgical ICU, she added.
The 2nd largest hospital, Polyclinic has only 4 functioning ventilators while there is only a 10-bed Isolation Ward for Covid-19 patients.
The former Information Minister said with almost two and a half thousand patients already, the federal government only has the capacity of 90-beds at various Isolation Wards at governing hospitals.
Marriyum lamented the fact that the families of CoVid patients are running pillar to post for references to arrange a ventilator for their ailing loved ones. She inquired where had the ventilators brought in for coronavirus patients go and demanded that the government must tell how many did Islamabad get.
She said Imran has been fighting coronavirus with press conferences, presentations, statements, claims and tweets instead of practical steps. The federal Health Minister Imran Khan has outsourced the healthcare system of the country and has gone missing himself.
The PMLN Secretary lnformation said the government dishes out one lie after the other, jeopardising lives of thousands of Pakistanis. Even today, she said the government lied about the number of ventilators in PIMS. These lies will not save lives but point make matters worse. PTI must quit doing politics over the lives of the people of this great nation, she said.
She said Every time the government was asked why PIMS, Polyclinic, Federal Government Hospital and National Institute Of Rehabilitation Medicine and Drug Regulatory Authority are running on temporary makeshift charge, the answer was a wave of allegations of corruption on PMLN and finger-pointing at Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif instead of an appropriate answer.
