PMLN Slams Govt Report Accusing Politicians, Journalists, Civil Society Of Being Anti State

ISLAMABAD: PMLN has slammed the government report accusing Pakistani Politicians, Journalists and activists of being anti state without any proof.

At a press conference in Islamabad, Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi flanked by Khurran Dastgir Khan, Rana Sanaullah and Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the 135 page report had put Pakistan’s opposition politicians and journalists at par with India and Israel. He said that the entire report seeks to demonised and issue edicts based on assumptions without analysing the content of tge tweets used as basis for these accusations.

Abbasi said the map published in the report shows Kashmir as a part of India which was the most outrageous and unforgivable mistake and yet there was no accountability for it. This he said was because none of the government ministers even read tge report and even if they did they didn’t have the intelligence to know what was wrong. He mocked the fact that the government had hired a Canadian company to do this research and lacked tge capacity to do anything themselves. Bit when the company was contacted they denied that they provided any data which means the data was either stolen or was fictitious. These actions he said would effect Pakistan for decades as this government had no vision or policy over Afghanistan which was going to shape regional dynamics for decades to come.

Abbasi said this report was nothing but a distraction from the failures of the PTI government at every level. From insane inflation rate and unemployment in the country to the foriegn policy and international diplomacy. He pointed out that even after thousand of lives sacrificed and billions of dollars lost by Pakistan in the war on terror in Afghanistan, the world today views Pakistan as an equal stake holder as I did which had not lost  single life in the entire conflict. He condemned demonising Afrasiab Khattak, Farhatullah Babar, Bushra Gohar and others. Abbasi pointed out that PTI info Minister lied about the report on national television when he had nothing to say to defend it. Tweets that criticise government and call out its blunders are not anti state but pro state he said.

Khurram Dastgir Khan said the report claims to be thorough and in depth none of which it actually is as it is shoddy and far from credible. The report is extremely misleading because it only analysis hashtags which can by no means give even close to an accurate assessment of tge contents. He pointed out that a little  666 tweets were analysed out which 142 were from 3 tweets which means that majority of analysis and end results were assumed based on just 3 accounts.

He said if there was someone who truly said things that were undeniably antistatic it was Imran Khan. He reminded hwonImran said in Iran that Pakistan was responsible for terrorism in Iran, how Imran said  that Pakistan armybtrauned Al Qaeda and Taliban, how he attacked parliament, Supreme Court and other PTV, how he and his government were usurping constitutional rights by cracking down of freedom of speech and international observers and papers like tge guardian were writing about it.

These he said were the real anti state forces which need to be held accountable and PMLN would continue to stand for the state, the freedoms of its people and the supremacy of the constitution.
