ISLAMABAD: PMLN Central Leader and Former Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has trashed Imran Khan’s claim of a grand conspiracy against Pakistan by the US and has warned against damaging Pakistan’s diplomatic relations with other countries just to desperately hold on to power. He said the only conspiracy against Pakistan with plausible and clear evidence was PTI’s Foreign Funding.
Talking to media in Islamabad, with Washington said it has not been long when Imran claimed he felt he had won the world cup after returning from his visit to the US. How did the tables turn so drastically only to benefit his political interests.
“Why was a meeting of the National Security Committee not called when the letter was first received on March 7th? why was it delayed for three weeks? Why had this letter surfaced only after Imran saw the writing on the wall that he had lost majority in the parliament? When was all this done when 177 members were sitting on opposition benches? Why was this so-called letter pulled out of nowhere when Imran had gone completely Bankrupt? The answers to all this questions is that Imran had nothing left other than leveling false accusations against his opposition because he had lost to them”, he questioned.
The former Defence Minister said over just the past 30 days, Pakistan’s foreign reserves depleted by $ 4.2 billion and he blames the opposition of a foreign conspiracy, how is that not the biggest conspiracy against the state’s interest?, he asked. He said PTI’s illegal foreign funding case showed what conspiracy against the state actually is, where money was laundered from questionable sources in addition to transferring the trust money of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital abroad. Foreign entities that had nothing to do with Pakistan or Islam, funded PTI, which was the true evidence of a foreign conspiracy against Pakistan. And the remaining evidence of this foreign conspiracy was how brutally Imran damaged Pakistan’s economy, society, security and diplomatic interest, he said.
Khawaja Asif also slammed Imran’s dangerous ploy of using religion to further his political objectives and hang on to power. He warned that the country was already extremely polarized and this tactic of using religion would only worsen that situation. He said religion was part of faith and was extremely sacred. Just because Imran failed at politics and leadership, he was now exploiting religion and was aspiring to become a religious scholar somehow, he said.
The PMLN Leader said Pakistan wishes to have good relations with all states. He pointed out that the US was an economic power of the world that could help Pakistan solve a lot of its economic problems. He said Pakistan has friendly ties with China, the GCC Countries and now even Russia, and there was no need to demonize any country just to serve personal agenda.
Just to cater to his political agenda and interest, Imran Niazi is jeopardizing Pakistan’s ties with Washington. The US holds such massive economic leverage over Pakistan that if it wanted, it could put Pakistan in a position where the country would not be able to even pay its Oil Bill, This was dangerous especially considering how disastrous the economic state of the country was because of the terrible Imran rule. The ventilators and drips keeping the Pakistani economy alive were all by the US, and if Washington decided to switch them off, Pakistan would be in an extremely difficult position. Pakistan must work its way towards self-reliance so that Pakistan would not become a permanent subordinate of the US economically. However using this for political mileage was extremely dangerous. Imran was only using this to build a narrative that would distract attention away from the disastrous situation of inflation, economy, unemployment and misery in the country because of Imran’s catastrophic rule.
Asif said Imran Khan had become dangerous and detrimental to Pakistan’s interests which was why the Opposition had decided to oust him. He said today was clear that Imran’s government had died a befitting death and only the last rights were pending till Sunday.
