Need To Set Own House In Order To Effectively Fight Kashmir’s Case – Marriyum

Unelected Prime Minister Can’t Get Justice For Kashmiris – Marriyum

RAWALPINDI: PMLN Secretary Information Marriyum Aurangzeb says be it Pakistan or Kashmir justice is impossible if the government isn’t truly elected by a free, fair and transparent elections.

Addressing the Kashmir Conference held by the Rawalpindi Bar Association, Marriyum said when an elected Prime Minister like Nawaz Sharif was governing, the BJP leadership and the Indian Prime Minister had to come to Pakistan themselves. But when a non-elected Imran heads the country, Indian leadership doesn’t even bother taking his call. On the contrary India took the drastic step on 5th August while the incompetent Imran government watched. During Nawaz’s tenure India accepted Kashmir as a dispute MD territory and was willing to come to the negotiating table.

Unless Pakistan sets its own house in order, it would be virtually impossible to fight the case of Kashmir effectively, she said.

The former Information Minister said unelected Imran discontinued the peace process started by Nawaz; demonised Nawaz for it; and then tainted the same approach shamelessly. Imran was so naive that he believed Modi’s reelection would help solve Kashmir issue. Modi sealed the fate of Kashmiris on 5th August; Imran responded by changing the name of a road and doing situps on Friday.

She said that an India progressing at 6 GDP growth would never want to negotiate with a Pakistan at -0.4 GDP thanks to Imran Khan. Only a Pakistan with an elected and Constitutional government with a strong economy and foriegn policy could win the case of Kashmir and get justice for the Oppressed Kashmiris. Changing the names of roads and failed trips to the US mean nothing and would achieve nothing. The political landscape had changed, matters are now solved through economic might, not on the battlefields, and only an economic power Pakistan could fulfill the dreams of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah regarding Kashmir, she added.

Marriyum paid rich tribute to the people of Kashmir for their relentless struggle and sacrifices for their rights. These sacrifices and undeterred resilience for generations had proved to the tyrannical India and the rest of the world that no amount of oppression could make them surrender their rights. The sacrifices of the men, women, mothers, sisters and children would be written in golden words in tge history she said.

The PMLN Secretary Information said the pictures of the Kashmiri Child sitting on the chest of his martyred grandfather would continue to jolt the conscience of the world. That child was still seeking justice from the international community, she said.
