ISLAMABAD: PMLN Senior Vice President and Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the statement under oath by Former Chief Justice of High Court Gilgit-Baltistan Rana Shamim has further exposed how Imran Khan was brought into power through organized and institutionalized rigging in the 2018 Elections.
Addressing a press conference, Abbasi said Former Chief Justice Shamim had recorded his statement about former chief justice of Pakistan, Justice (retd) Saqib Nisar, before an oath commissioner in London, PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said.
Shamim has alleged that Nisar had given instructions to keep former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz in jail till the general elections in 2018.
Flanked by PMLN leader Khawaja Asif, Abbasi said Nawaz was ousted from the Prime Minister’s Chair and later through national politics not because of any wrong doing but because of a carefully orchestrated scheme in 2017, the schemers and doers of which were being exposed over time. sundered from politics after he was disqualified as the prime minister back in 2017.
“Three people, including Rana Shamin and Saqib Nisar, are aware of the facts, but the people of Pakistan must also know the truth. If someone meddles with elections, so don’t we hold the right to question them? How can a country function when justice is not only blatantly denied but the top officials of the justice system is complicit in illegal and unconstitutional acts of interference in the electoral process? When will this jugglery with the lives of people, the future of this country for selfish and petty personal interests and agendas end? ” he questioned.
Abbasi said when the people wanted to know that if a thrice elected Prime Minister of Pakistan couldn’t get justice in the country, how would a layman get justice the country especially when a chief justice could be involved in such practices. Keeping these newly revealed bombshell facts, one could only imagine how Judge Bashir Muhammad would have made this decision.
He said the he prays that Former CJP Nisar wouldn’t be involved in all this, but if he is, how can the people of Pakistan trust this system. This is not just a matter of keeping a former Prime Minister behind bars illegally, but it is a matter of robbing the nation’s constitutional right to to elect a leader of their choice he said.
“If Rana Shamim’s statement is false, he should be punished for it, but if his statement is true, Former CJP Saqib Nisar must be thrown behind bars. If the trice elected Prime Minister of Pakistan can be jailed, why cant a former Chief Justice”, he asked.
He said such frauds with the nation, unconstitutional interference in the electoral process, were the real cause of the multiple crises including inflation, faced by the country due to the failure of this regime that was brought in through such illegal actions and not through the people’s vote.
Speaking at the presser, Khawaja Asif said this statement by Mr Shamim had called into questioned the all constitutional institutions of Pakistan. The Supreme Court, the Lahore High Court, the NAB, the election commission of that time all had been exposed as involved inthis grand scheme of hijacking the elections he said. He said PMLN would raise Shamim’s allegations in the Parliament, as he had recorded his statement “without any coercion”, but the PTI has paralyzed the parliament.
