KARACHI: PMLN President and National Assembly Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif has pledged to make Karachi a model city by uniting all political parties,except PTI, to work together for the prosperity and peace of the provincial metropolis.
Shehbaz visited and met with the officials, elders, and workers of the NA 249 constituency in Karachi.
Taking to them, Shehbaz said Karachi is the city of the founder of lisieux Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said this city is one of the training hubs of the country but was being treated like a step child.
The PMLN President said he wished and prayed to see Karachi become the bustling metropolis without any fear or troubles, in his lifetime. Shehbaz broke into tears while talking about the plight of the people of Karachi and said that if God Almighty have him another chance, he and his party PMLN, under the Leadership of Quaid Nawaz Sharif would show the world how to make Karachi an exemplary city. He reminded that it was PMLN that returned peace, security and law and order to the city and rescued it from catastrophic load-shedding and he pledged that PMLN would take this great city to new heights and make it a model city with by eliminating all problems. Ending the menace of violence and body-bags was not an easy task, it was a great feat achieve by Nawaz Sharif, he stressed.
He said this city earns billions and trillions for the country and yet the people of this city struggle for a gallon of water. An entire day’s earning of a labourer was wiped out if he dared to buy a single gallon of water, he said. He said may God give strength to Sindh government so that they could serve the people even better.
Pointing out the diversity of Karachi he said Sindhis, Punjabis, Tanolis, Blocks, Bengalis, Pashtuns and purple from various other areas and ethnicities live in Karachi and this city had embraced them all with open arms. Pakistan can never prosper without the prosperity of Karachi, he said.
Shehbaz said PMLN would unite all political parties, except one, and work together tirelessly to solve all problems faced by Karachi. This one party had brought hell to the Karachi, Pakistan and its people over the past 3 years, he said. He thanked the Karachites for supporting him and Miftah Ismail in the elections. He said he was overwhelmed by the way Karachites worked day and night for his elections and voted for him but he was not declare the winner because of reasons which weren’t an open secret. Nawaz Sharif has especially pursued me to contest elections from Karachi, he said.
The National Assembly Opposition Leader said when he came to Karachi during the rainy season he was extremely saddened by the damage to roads and other infrastructure. The water shortage, lack of education and healthcare facilities were also a matter of great grief for him, he added. Karachi, the port city, was the gateway to Pakistan, he pointed out. He said he would give his last breath and last drop of blood if that’s what it would take to solve problems of the Karachites.
The PMLN President attended two events in his NA 249 constituency and listened to the problems faced by the people. PMLN Sindh President Shah Muhammad Shah, Former Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair and various other party leaders from different wings attended the event.
