ISLAMABAD: PMLN Secretary Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has demanded reversal of PTI’s proposed tax on 1100 CC cars and 5-minute phonecards.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Marriyum said the people of Pakistan would feel the brunt on this phonecard tax. People who work in cities far from home need to communicate with their families back home this tax would snatch away this right from them as well, she said. Only 37 percent Pakistanis use smart phones, all else would be adversely affected by this tax, she added.
“Imran wouldn’t be affected by this phonecard tax because he only drops a missed call to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who never calls back”, Marriyum said.
The former Information Minister said this budget hits tge middle class hard. She called on the government to ensure public transport and metro buses for people in all cities. She pointed out how the PMLN government established metro services at extremely economic cost in various cities while the PTI built a failed project with over Rs 126 billion in Peshawar. She said the white collar middle class of Pakistan deserves respectable public transport.
Marriyum said, “This government had gifted the nation 16 percent inflation rate and 15 percent unemployment rate. Imran Khan should at least 1 of the promises made in his container rants. He should give at least some relief to the people”
She pointed out that Imran promised in his container rants that he would never impose indirect taxes whereas out of the Rs 1100 billion new taxes 67 percent were indirect taxes, she revealed. Imran government is making it impossible for for the honest hard working people of the country to lead a respectable life with even minimum survival expenditure, she said.
