Marriyum Slams Draconian Media Law In The Works, Lashes Out Against Ban On Hamid Mir

ISLAMABAD: PMLN Secretary Information Marriyum Aurangzeb says the new Media Development Authority Law in the works is a preparation for killing whatever is left of freedom of the press in Pakistan.

In a statement, she dubbed it a grand conspiracy of wrapping up fascism in the garb of legislation. She slammed the government for working on such dark law instead of bringing legislation to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of media and journalists.

The former Information Minister said after locking up parliament to shun dissent, Imran was now getting ready to slaughter freedom of the media. She said PMLN would not allow this at any cost. The party will expose this dictatorial law infront of the people of Pakistan, she said.

Marriyum said Fascism continues acting above and around the law to silence journalists and free media through pressure tactics. But these plausible deniability tactics don’t fool anyone any more.

Ban on Hamid Mir is a blatant violation of his constitutional right to freedom of expression. We condemn such arbitrary decisions against freedom of speech & oppose all pressures to intimidate journalists into silence. PMLN Stands With HamidMir, she said.
