ISLAMABAD: PMLN Secretary Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that the selected incompetent, unqualified and corrupt Prime Minister had made the month of blessings and happiness a month of hellish misery for the people of Pakistan with disastrous mismanagement and unbearable inflation.
Talking to the media in Islamabad, Marriyum said that according to the government’s Pakistan bureau of Statistics Sensitive Price Indicators own statistics there was a whopping 19 percent inflation in the week leading up to Ramzan. According to the data itself after February not one week in which inflation increased less than 13 percent.
She showed a picture of elderly women, men and children lined up for miles for just 1kg of subsidized sugar. She despite fasting and despite the dangerous state of covid-19 these people had to go through hell for just 1 kg of sugar which is a shame for the state. She said this picture represents the failure of this government, its apathy and absolute disastrous management of Ramzan. She said there s zero relief for the people.
Marriyum said, “the sugar sold at Rs 52 per kg in PMLN era is now being sold at Rs 83 at subsidized rate and Rs 110 in open market. Chicken was Rs 138.89 per kg last year which is now Rs 265.82 per kg now. Tomatoes’ price went from Rs 30 to Rs 55 year on year. Eggs from Rs 114 in 2020 to Rs 166 in 2021. Cooking oil price went from Rs 1283 to Rs 1540 in just one year of PTI rule. Vegetable Ghee price increased from Rs 645 per 2.5 kg to Rs 770 in 12 months. Flour went from Rs 877 per 10 kgs to Rs 988 in one year. Cost of bananas went up by Rs 17 per dozen. Overall the prices of 52 edible items shot through the roof in the week leading up to the month of Ramzan”.
Talking about the state of the country’s economy she said Imran has eaten his own worlds so many times that it is now becoming a joke. She reminded how Asad Umar was once Imran’s poster boy who according to him had been preparing for 20 years to rescue Pakistan’s economy, but ended up driving the country into the worst recession of its history with his disastrous negotiations with the IMF. Then all of a sudden the poster-boy was not good enough and was sacked from Finance Ministry and in came the IMF representative himself, Hafiz Sheif who was slammed by Imran Khan during the time he was PPP’ss finance Minister was all of a sudden the face of the new savior and Imran started marketing his talents. However, he too added to the mess created by Asad Umar and went a step ahead by enslaving Pakistan’s State Bank to the IMF. But even after being all praises for him, Imran showed him the door before time as well and in walked Hammad Azhar who was presented as a the young and dynamic face pf Pakistan’s economics. But that dynamic face was kicked out of the chair of Finance Minister in less than two weeks and Shaukat Tareen was imported, who had a history of plummeting the country’s growth rate into minus, she said.
This musical chairs of cabinet reshuffle is not even an eyewash anymore because the people of Pakistan have seen this theatre so many time now since 2018. She said Imran starts singing praises for the same people in different positions, but the moment that music of praises stops, everyone in the cabinet switches chairs shamelessly to please the supreme leader.
The former Information Minister said this cabinet reshuffle is meaningless and inconsequential because the real reasons for all the crisis faced by Pakistan is the selected Prime Minister sitting on top Imran Khan.
She said the fish stinks from the head. Imran and his team had failed miserably and now he was trying to drag on his failed rule with borrowed people. This government had changed 4 finance ministers and 4 information ministers while nothing has changed and the country is going deeper into crisis with inflation at 14 percent, growth rate in negative domain, 4 million people left jobless and over 50 million pushed under the poverty line. Marriyum said being a minister requires management skills and if a minister can’t manage one ministry how can he be successful in another. She said these ministers were the same people Imran was praising a week ago and now they have been dubbed ineffective.
She said no minister can perform in this government because the criteria of performance is not efficiency but how crudely and aggressively can a minister cuss at and criticise the opposition. She said Shaukat Tareen strongly criticised Imran governments policies on a TV show a week ago and now he had been brought in to present the disastrous budget. She revealed that the government’s own members will oppose this budget.
Marriyum said as long as the corrupt, incompetent, unqualified, mafia patronising selected Prime Minister is not removed from the top, no amount of musical chairs of ministers under him would reap any results.
Marriyum also slammed Shehbaz gill for commenting on the subjudice case of Shehbaz Sharif’s bail. She questioned under what legal capacity is Gill speaking. She demanded that he should be charged with the contempt of court.
