National assets such as motorways, airports and F-Nine Park were being mortgaged to get more loans, they pointed out. The leaders believed that the most important question was how this debt will be repaid. They feared that national assets were being handed over to lenders for pennies and they will earn trillions of rupees by selling them on commercial basis for non-payment of loans. PMLN slammed this practiced and dubbed it squandering of national assets. Rejecting all these measures, the meeting demanded that the process of mortgaging national assets in a foolish and ignorant manner be stopped immediately. The confrontation with the provinces on this issue was another aspect, which, instead of trying to resolve it in a timely and constitutional framework, had been compromised by the federation and the people of Pakistan and the industrial sector were being punished for their willful ignorance. They stressed that a person facing controversy and allegations of corruption should not be the head of a sensitive project like CPEC as it was against national interest.
