The meeting said flour for Rs 75 per kg, chapatti for Rs 30 and sugar for Rs 115 and an increase of 500 percent and 262 percent in the prices of medicine followed by another 32 percent rise is economic terrorism and the height of injustice and cruelty towards the people of Pakistan.

The meeting said this situation is a testament of the fact that the continuation of this government is not in the national interest and only the removal of this corrupt and incompetent government can save the country from sinking deeper into the quicksand of economic disaster.

The meeting fully endorsed and supported the agenda and objective outlined by the All Parties Conference held under the aegis of Pakistan Democratic Movement to get rid of the vote-robbing imposed government.

It declared the massive public meetings in Gujranwala and Karachi as referendums against the existence of this illegal imposed government. The PMLN demanded that the perpetrators of this action apologize to the mothers, wives, daughters, sisters and of Pakistan including Maryam Nawaz. It also demanded that the culprits be apprehended and given exemplary punishment. It also demanded that the names of all those in any way involved and linked to this horrendous incident be made public without exception or concession. It said not only are these retribution actions essential to restore the honour of the police but are imperative to reestablish the trust and sense of security for the women of Pakistan in the law enforcement institutions. The meeting noted that the confidence of the women of Pakistan in the security agencies is already at an all time low because of the motorway gang rape incident and the victim blaming comments by the CCPO Umar Shiekh following this incident. The meeting endorsed the statement of Pakistan Bar Council and Sindh Bar Council in this regard.

The Parliamentary party meeting strongly condemned the arrest and imprisonment of PMLN President and National Assembly Opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif. It said that Shehbaz’s only crime was that he was the brother of Nawaz Sharif and did not bow down to the wish of betraying his brother. The meeting termed the closure of Saaf Pani Enquiry and the judicial remand by the court were an irrefutable proof that the NAB-Niazi unholy alliance has no proof against the PMLN President. It termed this arrest a part of the same political engineering by this regime which the supreme court had already pointed out in its remarks and the International Human Rights Body, the Human Rights Watch, had also mentioned. The meeting lauded and paid rich tribute to Shehbaz Sharif’s resilience, perseverance, courage and unwavering loyal to Pakistan’s constitution, law and party ideology and his sacrifices. The meeting also paid rich tribute to the courage, steadfastness and commitment and condemned the mistreatment extended to him in jail.

The meeting supports and stands with the protests by Lady Health Workers, countrywide government employees, pensioners, and other employees of government and private departments. It also condemns the brutal torture and assault on these protesters and the fake cases registered against their peaceful demonstrations. It declared the laying off of 749 employees of Radio Pakistan as the latest brutal, callous and cruel act of the selected Prime Minister Imran Khan. It noted that even the right to protests against such inhuman actions has been snatched away from these workers. These draconian actions prove that this government is neither democratic nor popular. It demands that all these fake cases be withdrawn, all detained protesters be released and all these employees be reinstated to their positions.

The PMLN Parliamentary Party while expressed solidarity with the media, announced its support for the countrywide protests for the fulfillment of the media’s demands.
