Overruling Sindh Govt To Arrest Safdar Proves Nawaz’s State Above State Narrative – Maryam
PMLN Vice President Maryam Nawaz says the violation of privacy without the consent of the Sindh Government reinforces PMLN Quaid Nawaz Sharif’s statement that there isn’t just a state within the state but a state above the state in Pakistan.
At a press conference flanked by PDM President Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, PPP Senior Central Leader Raja Pervez Ashraf and other senior PDM leaders, Maryam said the Government has totally lost it and in its desperation and frustration is committing blunders that is empowering the PDM movement even more. She said those committing such actions are not in touch with ur changing times and believe is still the nineties. The entire country and beyond know who these ‘Unknown Persons’ are.
Marriyum told that at around quarter past 6 she and her husband captain Safdar were woken by frantic knocking on their rho hotel room door. She said they had just gone to sleep after offering prayers so they couldn’t figure out what was going on. But when Safdar opened the door it was men in police uniform who told him they had come to arrest him. She said Safdar told them he’ll come with them after changing his dress and getting his medication. But the security personnel didn’t wait and broke down the room door while she was still sleeping.
The PMLN Vice President said Safdar didn’t chant any pro-pmln slogans at Mazar-e-Quaid. He chanted ‘Respect The Poeples’ Vote’ and Fatima Jinnah Zinadabad. She said these slogan represent Jinnah and she very well knows who is offended by glorification of Fatima Jinnah and sanctity of vote.
Maryam said she is extremely thankful to PPP leadership including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, President Asif Zardari and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah for calling and expressing their condemnation and disgust for this act. But she said she never for a moment even doubted that this was done by the PPP government. She said the PDM is prepared for such attacks aimed at creating rift between the PDM movement parties. Those seeking to create this rift are delusional and immature for thinking such shallow tactics will work, she said.
Talking about the FIR of life threat, she said the person who filed this FIR is Waqqas Ahmed who is an absconder of the terrorism court. She said if they have any dignity and guts they should stop hiding behind such frivolous FIRs and come arrest her in front of the nation and media.
Earlier, PDM President Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said the government and its backers had stooped to new low by breaching the privacy of a respected woman. He said even in the most uncultured societies, such actions are frowned upon as shameless. He said the IG police Sindh was abducted for 4 hours and coerced into signing arrest orders for Captain Safdar which explains exactly why PDM is out on the streets. But he said these actions are the last desperate squabbles of the government’s sinking ship. He said these acts prove that the days of this government are numbered.
Speaking at the press conference PPP Leader Raja Pervez Ashraf expressed his sadness over the incident and said the word condemnation doesn’t even begin to describe what should be said about it. He said the PPP government had nothing to do with it. He said those responsible for this committed the unforgivable sin of tainting Sindh’s historic tradition and reputation of being the most loving and caring hosts.
