Shehbaz Punished For Refusing To Betray PMLN, Nawaz – Maryam
PMLN Vice President Maryam Nawaz says Shehbaz Sharif has been arrested in fake cases as a punishment for endorsing everything said by PMLN Quaid Nawaz Sharif in his speech at the APC.
Addressing a press conference at the PMLN Lahore Secretariat in Model Town, Marriyum said the arrest of the National Assembly Opposition Leader is another dark blotch on the face of the fascist PTI government. She said Shehbaz was punished because despite extreme pressure, persecution and victimisation of Shehbaz Sharif, his sons and even his daughter, he did not agree to abandon his brother, his brother’s leadership and political narrative.
She said all those who wished to split up PMLN have bitter dust for decades now and will continue to do so. She said Shehbaz has always believed in the politics of reconciliation but has never defied the party Quaid who he sees not as the leader of his party but as his Imam.
She said Imran Khan is an extremely insecure person who fears every moment that his illegally and undemocratically imposed government is in danger from Shehbaz Sharif because he could be his replacement. This is why Imran does not want to give Shehbaz any space, in fact he has kept Hamza in jail for 13 months because he fears threatened by him in Punjab, she said.
The PMLN Vice President said Imran needs to know that Shehbaz isn’t a replacement but the true choice of people, especially that of Punjab. She warned Imran that the crutches he stands on today won’t last forever and also said the institutions who imposed an immature, incompetent, corrupt and inexperienced person like Imran and are still standing by him should see that he has landed the country in disaster. From the fall of Kashmir to the fall of economy, this government has done blunders unprecedented in the history of the country, she said.
Maryam said this government’s false narrative of accountability has been exposed at respected forums nationally and internationally and by the acts of the Imran-led selected government. She pointed out that Hamza Shehbaz has been jailed without any reference filed against him and without any proof of any corruption against him. She pointed out that Shehbaz Sharif was jailed under similar circumstances only to bar him from leading the party at crucial times. She mentioned that she was imprisoned without any proof of any wrongdoing as well.
But on the other hand, she said, Asim Saleem Bajwa is roaming free despite damming evidence against him regarding his business empire of 99 companies. She said children of PMLN leaders are tagged as dependent on Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif only to concoct false cases while the children of Asim Bajwa are accepted as independent with their own businesses. She said the false baseless allegations without proofs are peddled on media through pressure and Asim Bajwa’s scandal with proofs was banned from all media while his clarification was forced on air on every channel and printed in every newspaper. She said if the court does not take up Asim Bajwa’s case itself, she will take it to the PDM and decide how to proceed on it in the meeting.
Maryam said no institution of accountability cares about Jahangir Tareen chilling abroad while even his children are exempted from investigations over spurious excuses. The champions of accountability are blind to the mega corruption in Peshawar BRT and billion tree tsunami while they make up fake cases to victimise Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz, Rana Sanaullah, Ahsan Iqbal and other PMLN leaders. She also reminded that the top court had categorically mentioned that thia PTI government’s accountability drive is an instrument of political engineering.
Maryam said the decision of the APC will be implemented in letter and spirit. And while the government says it will hold elections of opposition resigns from the parliament, it is mistaken of it thinks it will be allowed an empty battle ground. She said the way Gilgit-Baltistan elections have been a victim of prepoll rigging because it was predominantly PMLN, it will reap very disastrous results for the country. She warned that PMLN will expose every bit of rigging to the people of Pakistan in Gilgit-Baltistan elections.
Marriyum praised the remarks of the Islamabad High Court over the SECP record leaks stay order request in which the court said all this information is public property and there is no question of a leak. She said the judges too are in a damned if you do damned if you don’t situation. They are blackmail to give decisions under pressure. Those who cave in become Judge Arshad Malik and those who stand up are persecuted like Justice Qazi Fayez Eesa and Justice Shaukat Siddiqui. She said PMLN will stand for the liberation of judiciary from this pressure and also of the media so that the media can expose all this without fear of persecution.
Talking about the meeting of Muhammad Zubair with the COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa, Maryam rejected that the meeting was held on her and Nawaz’s direction. She said Zubair and Bajwa’s friendship dates back decades and this was a personal meeting. She said she respects DR ISPR and the way he conducts himself but he shouldn’t have painted a private meeting as a political one. She said if she starts sharing all what was discussed in the meeting things would get ugly, which he does not wish.
On a question regarding Talal Chaudhry, she said whatever happened was a matter of his private life which is why never asked him and believes private lives should not be dragged into political domain.
Speaking earlier, PMLN Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal said a, meeting of the PDM has been called over the unlawful and unconstitutional arrest of Shehbaz Sharif. He said the opposition with requisition sessions of National Assembly and the Senate to protest and will hold countrywide protest demonstrations.
