Shehbaz Slams, Rejects Electricity Tariff Hike, Demands Immediate Reversal
PMLN President and National Assembly Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif has termed the increase in electricity tariffs extreme cruelty and has said the people of Pakistan have outrightly rejected this decision.
Reacting strongly to the hike in electricity tariffs, Shehbaz said the government tried to become hero by making a big deal out of not raising petrol prices when it is already cheap in international market, but has ended up becoming zero by raising the electricity tariff.
The PMLN President said the government’s criminal negligence of not buying cheap LNG led to the hike in tariffs due to furnace oil based electricity. Who is to be held accountable for this blunder, he questioned.
“Imran Khan is filling up the pockets of his mafia friends with the public money looted from wheat, flour, sugar and patrol while the people of Pakistan are starving to death”, he said.
He said the economy, industry, business and employment have hit rock bottom while the government continues to crush the nation with added taxes and tariff hikes. He said the government had already made record increases in the cost of electricity and gas. The Prime Minister has no moral grounds to criticize K-Electric after these tariff hikes, he said.
Shehbaz demanded that this increase must be reversed or there will be the strongest protest against it. PMLN will not stand and watch such injustice with the people of Pakistan.
