Won’t let Imran Turn Pakistan Into Nazi, Fascist State In The Name Of FATF – Ahsan
PMLN Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal says the opposition has always and will always leave no stone unturned to cooperate for legislation necessary for national interest, but it will not allow Imran Niazi to turn Pakistan into a Nazi Fascist state to persecute his political opponents in the name of FATF.
Talking to media in Islamabad, Ahsan said Imran’s tweets regarding oppositions non-cooperation are a farce. He pointed out how the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi praised the role of opposition in FATF related legislation in a special letter. But he said the government agrees on ammendments during meetings of the parliamentary committee and later backtracks in the assembly and bulldozes through its agenda.
Ahsan said the government is trying to use the FATF to create a NAB on steroids which would allow the abduction and detention of anyone without any due process and the right of appeal, which will not only make Imran’s already historic political victimisation worse, but will deter business and investment in the country.
Talking about the inquiry regarding Narowal Sports City, Ahsan said he built a sports facility not a liquor brewery or a narcotics or contraband center for which he is being punished. He said the PTI government has not been able to level a single allegation of corruption over the project which is why they have resorted to the pathetic excuse of abuse of power accusation.
Ahsan said if setting up state of the art sports facilities for the youth of the country is abuse of power, he will commit this crime every time he is elected. He pointed out that in a country with demography dominated by youth the standard of sports is drastically declining due to lack of sports infrastructure and facilities. He said Imran Niazi who calls himself Captain and his claim to fame was the World Cup victory, should be more concerned about the absence of sports facilities in the country, instead of targeting those who built them
