Government Colluded With Petrol, Sugar Mafia To Profit Illegal Profiteering Cronies – Asif

ISLAMABAD: PMLN Parliamentary Leader Khawaja Asif says the PTI government colluded with the patrol mafia to rob the nation with the Rs 25 per litre increase in gasoline prices just the way it colluded with the Sugar Mafia to profit its cronies and blue-eyed illegal profiteers.

Speaking at the National Assembly, Asif said the exact same Playbook was used to look the people of Pakistan twice, an artificial shortage of petrol was created nationwide which caused a stir and mass problems for the people and in the blink of an eye right ofter the Rs 25 per litre increase announced by the government, the same fuel stations started selling ample amounts of petrol as if the shortage never existed, he pointed out.

This, he said, is the most blatant evidence of tacit collusion between the government and the sugar and patrol mafia which has ended up filing billions into the pockets of government’s blue eyed illegal profiteers.

Khawaja said this price hike is not going to just stop at patrol but will trigger mass inflation across the board to all commodities because all supply chain depends on fuel prices. It will also massively jack up electricity and gas tariffs because the most major chunk of Pakistan’s electricity is generated with furnace oil. He warned that this has put survival beyond the reach of the people of Pakistan who are already crushed under the burden of this government’s incompetence. He promised that the opposition will oppose and do all it can to stop this brutal inhuman adhoc tax.

The PMLN Central Leader warned that the PTI government is still not dealing with the locust swarm problem with the seriousness required. He said fresh swarms are headed for Pakistan’s agricultural lands and could land the country in a food security crisis if an emergency is not declared over the matter. He went on to propose a shift of crop seeding in lands because of climate change and depletion of water table in certain areas to maximise yield.

Asif said the is looking to bulldoze through the budget without paying heed to the oppositions proposals just for political purposes while ignoring greater public good. He once again stressed the need to raise the salaries of the government employees at a time when they are facing record inflation by this government while reeling from the financial fallout of the new coronavirus.

The PMLN Parliamentary Leader slammed the government for rewarding tax breaks and illegal profits through tacit deals with mafias while ignoring those in desperate need of relief from the government. He reminded Imran that he said the Prime Minister is one a father to the nation, but he has left the nation at the mercy of coronavirus and poverty. He mentioned that roughly 50 percent of the population has been pushed below the poverty line under this government while 15 million have so far lost their jobs.

Asif called for the freedom of press to be restored and an end to the persecution of media personnel through weaponised government institutions. He reminded that Jang Group’s owner Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman has been jailed for a 100 days which is a shameful act of holding free media hostage, literally and figuratively. He called for the immediate release of Shakeel-ur-Rehman and said the government must not use its advertising funds as a took of extortion of the media of the country.

He stressed that every single crisis being faced by the country is a product of Imran Khan’s terrible decisions and policies or a total absence of both in the form of total confusion. Which is why, he argued, that the only solution to sorting out these challenges is to get Imran Khan out of the top chair.
