PMLN Demands Imran’s Resignation, Reversal of AdHoc Petroleum Tax

ISLAMABAD: PMLN has demanded tha Imran Khan must resign after accepting his failure in every sector of governance which led to his dictatorial adhoc imposition of Rs 25 per litre tax on Petroleum products. The dictatorial tax is backstabbing democracy and the parliament while the budget session is underway.

PMLN’s top leaders Khawaja Asif, Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Former Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said the country cannot withstand the burden of Imran Khan’s blunders anymore.

They remind Imran of his statements, tweets and criticism of past governments for increasing the price of petrol and should at least feel ashamed if not anything else. They said this unprecedented and historic increase in oil prices will not just stop at Petroleum products, but will spill over exponentially into all major essentials sectors.

They pointed out that the largest portion of electricity generation is dependent on furnace oil which means the tariffs of electricity will spike up and so will the cost of every product that is sold a market with electricity. This, they said, will create a massive hike in transportation and supply chains cost which will increase the cost of agricultural produce. As a whole the entire country has been put on track to super hyper inflation at a time when the people of Pakistan are faced with the recession caused by PTI’s policy blunders and economic fallout of the new coronavirus.

The petrol which needs to be sold at a rate of Rs 67 per litre is being sold at Rs 100.10. They pointed out that the patrol mafia had asked for a Rs 15 increase per litre, it will soon be revealed why did the government gift them the extra Rs 10 per litre. This is a corruption scam of hundreds of billions if not more, and is a continuation of the sugar scandal model of making money by hoarding, artificial shortage, processing hike and exploration of the masses.

They told that it is important for the people to know that this Rs 25 per litre increase is not because of any increase in price of oil in international markets. This is purely a tax imposed by Imran’s stroke of pen to make up for his abismal failure to run this country, they said.

Imran has virtually brought the country crashing down with his incompetence, he needs to realise that this great country has given him all it could and its now time for him to save this country by stepping down.

The PMLN pledged strong reaction, opposition and protest against the process hike and said the process of consultation with the joint Opposition is already underway to formulate a unified effort to have this measure reversed.
