Shehbaz Demands Raise In Govt Employees Salary, Labourers Minimum Wage

PMLN President and National Assembly Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif has demanded an essential increase in the salaries of government employees and a raise in the minimum wage of Labourers.

In a statement, Shehbaz said the worst economic recession in 72 years of the country merits that government employees get a raise in their salaries during this testing times. The government must not be indifferent to the plight of government employees and Labourers.

He pointed out that the unprecedented inflation and challenges due to covid-19 has made life hell for government employees.

Shehbaz said an increase of 15 to 20 percent would only cost the government Rs 30 billion which isn’t an amount that would jeopardise national economy. This he said will also prevent corruption in government ranks.

He also called for an increase in the minimum wage of Labourers and factory workers and said it can be managed by giving some concessions to factory owners.

He said the government must realise that not raising salaries will be in fact counterproductive for the economy.
