Sugar Crisis Proves PTI Govt Grossly Incompetent, Severely Corrupt – Abbasi
Former Prime Minister and PMLN Central Leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says the fact that the government continued to export sugar and curb import while prices continued to rise proves that the PTI government is either severely incompetent or corrupt or both.
Talking to media after appearing before the Sugar scandal Inquiry Commission alongside Khurram Dastgir Khan, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the robbery of people’s rights is ongoing as the price of sugar is constantly rising to date.
Abbasi said it is a clear, open and shut case as facts show that sugar was exported against the advice of the relevant authorities and continued to be exported for 16 months all while prices rose. He said not only that, the government also imposed a special text on import of sugar to ensure this rise in price and exploitation of the people.
Abbasi said the Chairman of the ECC, the cabinet and the Prime Minister despite being aware of this situation did nothing, which is proof of them being implicit in this crime.
The former Premier said following the mill owners and grilling them is secondary as they only benefitted from the decisions made by this corrupt government. He said unless the ECC Chairman, the cabinet and Chief Minister Punjab are called in for inquiry, the investigation is pointless.
He said PMLN also gave subsidy in sugar but that brought down the prices over Rs 10 for the masses instead of jacking them up over Rs 30 like PTI.
Abbasi said it is the most blatant conflict of interest that sitting government ministers and PTI top leaders made billions from these disastrous decisions of this government.
NAB, he said, is blind to the proven criminals of the sugar and wheat scandal while Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Hamza Shehbaz has been behind bars for over 18 months and not a single case has been filed against him. Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif is being questioned over a La day distribution to deserving poor in 1976 whish shows that every other case framed against him has already fallen flat on its face.
