Mushahidullah urges Shaikh Rashid to resign as promised

ISLAMABAD, Mar 13 (APP): Central Secretary Information Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Mushahidullah Khan Thursday said depreciation in value of dollar and strengthening of rupee speaks of excellent economic policies of the government.In a statement issued here, he urged Sheikh Rashid Ahmed to resign for predicting that the fall of dollar was impossible and he will resign if one dollar is devalued upto Rs 98.He said highest level corruption during the tenure of of previous government has destroyed the institutions.He said present government is running all affairs in neat and clean  manner and it is evident from the fact that no mega corruption scandal has  surfaced so far.
PML-N has curtailed government expenditures and concentrated on eliminating corruption that was why there was no significant complaint of corruption.
He said the first year performance has proved that the government was going at right direction.
Rejecting the perception of compromise against the corrupt, he said  that former Prime ministers were pursuing their cases in the court  of laws. Accountability process would be made transparent for punishing  the corrupt.
He said that one major challenge was to reduce foreign and local debts to create balance between income and expenditures – government was moving in right direction to achieve the goals. (Courtesy: APP)

پاکستان مسلم لیگ (ن) کے مرکزی سیکرٹر ی اطلاعات سینیٹر مشاہدا للہ خان نے کہا ہے کہ ڈالر کی قیمت میں کمی حکومت کی بہترین معاشی منصوبہ بندی کا منہ بولتا ثبوت ہے۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ ہم نے اپنا کہا پورا کر دیا اب ڈالر پر شرطیں لگانے والے بھی اپنا قول نبھاتے ہوے مستعفی ہو جائیں۔ مشاہد اللہ خان نے کہا کہ ایک اور بڑا چیلنج بیرونی اور اندرونی قرضوں میں کمی لاکر آمدن اور اخراجات میں توازن پیدا کرنا ہے۔ گذشتہ سالوں کے دوران اعلی سطح پر کرپشن ادروں کو دیوالیہ کرنے کا سبب بنی، ہم نے آتے ہی حکومتی سطح پر اخراجات میں خاطر خواہ کمی یقینی لا کر کرپشن کے خاتمے پر توجہ دی۔ مشاہد اللہ خان نے ان خیالات کا اظہار مرکزی سیکرٹریٹ سے جاری ہونے والی ایک پریس ریلیز میں کیا انھوں نے کہا کہ گذشتہ ادوار کے برعکس آج مالی اور انتظامی بے ضابطگیاں اور بڑے اسکینڈلز نہ ہونے کے برابر ہیں۔ پہلے سال کی کارکردگی نے ثابت کیا کہ مسائل کے حل کی ترجیحات درست اور حکومتی پالیسیاں درست ہیں۔ مشاہد اللہ خان نے کہا کہ گذشتہ ادوار میں قوم کا لوٹا ہوا مال واپس لانے کے لیے احتساب کا شفاف عمل یقینی بنایا جائے گا۔ احتساب پر مک مکا کرنے کا سوال ہی پیدا نہیں ہوتا۔ مک مکا کے طعنے مارنے والے یہ بات کیوں نظر انداز کر رہے ہیں کہ آج سابق وزرا ئے اعظم اعلیٰ عدالتوں میں باقاعدگی سے اپنے خلاف قائم مقدمات کا سامنا کر رہے ہیں۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ احتساب قانونی عمل ہے اور ہمارا کام قانون کے مطابق عدالتی عمل کو جاری رہنے کے لیے معاونت کرنا ہے۔ہماری کسی سے ذاتی دشمنی نہیں بلکہ ہمیں ملک اور عوام کے مفادات کا تحفظ یقینی بنانا ہے۔

Pakistan condoles with President Karzai over demise of Afghanistan’s First Vice-President

ISLAMABAD, Mar 9 (APP): President Mamoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have conveyed deep sympathies and condolences to President Hamid Karzai over the demise of Afghanistan’s first Vice-President Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim. In their separate messages, the President and the Prime Minister have expressed sorrow over the passing away of First Vice-President Qasim Fahim, and conveyed that the people of Pakistan shared the sense of grief of the Afghan people, and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace. Steps will be taken to provide relief to Thar famine affectees: CM Sindh

MITHI: Addressing the media on Sunday afternoon, Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah said that several practical steps are being taken to provide relief to those affected by the famine in Tharparkar district.

“An agreement with a non-government organisation backed by the Asian Bank and the World Bank is underway,” he said. The organisation will be working on providing vocational training in nine districts that have the most poverty.

The Chief Minister added that since livestock was also affected, measures will be taken to improve veterinary facilities.

Many basic health units (BHU) were either non-functional or working nominally. All BHUs will now be made functional; doctors and medicines will be provided. The number of mobile dispensaries will be increased from 14 to 20, he informed.

He assured that distribution of food relief supplies will start in all districts within this week, and every family will get 50 instead of 25 kilograms of wheat.

Unemployment was a major problem in the district, but steps are being taken to deal with it appropriately, he added.

Hamza Shahbaz Sharif reacts

Speaking to the media Sunday afternoon, Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif criticised the Sindh Government for its handling of the famine situation in Thar, Express News reported.

He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was contemplating instructing a judicial inquiry into the Thar famine deaths.

“The death of all these children must be investigated,”Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said, adding that while the Sindh Government was busy with festivities, children were dying in Thar.

He informed that the Punjab government was sending relief goods to the people affected by the famine. Eight trucks carrying 65,000 kilogram rice were dispatched today. (Courtesy: Tribune)

Nawaz Sharif: Durable and permanent peace top priority

PM Nawaz Sharif said that a durable and permanent peace was top priority of the government for which all out efforts would be continued. The Prime Minister stated this while talking to members of government’s negotiating committee which called on him at the Prime Minister House.

The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Affairs Irfan Siddiqui, Major (Retd) Mohammad Amir, Rustum Shah Mohmand and Rahim Ullah Yusufzai. Earlier, a meeting of the Government negotiating committee was held. The committee reviewed Taliban’s ceasefire announcement and sorrowful acts in Khyber Agency and Islamabad.

Govt suspends airstrikes against Taliban, with reserving right to respond

ISLAMABAD, Mar 2 (APP): Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Sunday the government had decided to hold ongoing airstrikes following Taliban’s announcement of ceasefire. The government and the Armed Forces of Pakistan, however, reserved the right to effectively respond to acts of violence, the minister warned in a statement here. He said the government considered Taliban’s announcement of ceasefire as a positive development. Nisar made it clear that since the government came to power in June last year, neither it launched a formal military operation nor resorted to any unnecessary action. Govt giving priority to strengthen economy, improve law & order: President

KARACHI, Mar 2 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain said on Sunday the government was giving top priority to strengthen economy, and improve law and order situation in the country. He expressed the optimisim that the country would be on the track of prosperity and development when the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government completed its five-year term. The President, while talking to the representatives of electronic media here, said the present government was not responsible for the persisting social and economic conditions.  However, it was now its duty to bring about improvement and development in the country. He said the Federal Government had the resolve to restore peace and ensure security in Karachi. The targeted operation by the law enforcing agencies would continue till the objective was achieved, he added.
Replying to a question, President Mamnoon did not rule out the operation against Taliban in case of failure of the peace dialogue. The country could not further afford lawlessness and terrorism, he added.
“We all should pray for the success of dialogue between the government and Taliban,” he said.
He said the objective of the surgical airstrikes in certain areas of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) was to make Taliban realise that the government could go to any extent for establishing its writ and the rule of law in the country.
He said in case of an operation in the tribal areas, there would be no big migration of people to Sindh as they would probably prefer to settle down in the nearest areas.
The government was moving in the right direction. However, it would take some time till the situation improved in these areas, he added.
The President said with the cooperation of people, the law enforcing agencies would ensure peace and security to life and property of the people in Karachi soon.
He said the mega city with around 20 million population and 500 katchi abadies (slums), had apparently become a sanctuary for the terrorists and criminals.
Mamnoon Hussain said his visit to China was very successful as it had pledged to invest millions of dollars in Pakistan, which would also create job opportunities.
He termed the Economic Coordinator a unique project of the century. Not only Pakistan and China but Central Asia and entire Europe would also benefit from the mega project, he added.
He said two nuclear power plants being set up in Karachi with the Chinese cooperation, would generate 2200 MW electricity.  Three more such plants would also be set up in other areas of the country.
He said China would also soon start the work on Lahore – Karachi Motorway project.
The President said China would purchase F-17 Thunder fighter aircraft from Pakistan for its air force. This would increase the demand for the aircraft in international market.
China would also sell F-17 fighter helicopters to Pakistan, which would prove to be an effective tool in the war against terrorism, he said and added that it would also supply a submarine to Pakistan.
He said China had doubled the amount of its loan to Pakistan to two million RMB.
Mamnoon Hussain said he had meetings with the Chinese President and Prime Minister, the Chairman of Peoples’ Congress, and the Secretary of Chinese Communist Party.
He said China was following a policy to avoid conflicts and to only focus on strengthening its economy till 2025.
He said the government had planned to set up various  power projects, including coal-fired, hydel and solar, to generate 21,000 MW.
Answering another query, he said the situation in Balochistan was improving. This was the only province where local body elections were rcently held in a peacefull manner, he added.
Mamnoon Hussain said he had no political role to play after his election as president of the country.
Being the chancellor of 17 universities, he would work for the promotion of quality education and better health facilities in the country, he added. (Courtesy:APP)
